On February 14, 2018, a shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school in Parkland, Florida. 17 people were killed at the mass shooting and 17 more were injured. The shooter was 19 year old Nikolas Cruz, who was identified by witnesses at the school and arrested after the shootings occurred. Cruz confessed, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Cruz was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder and 17 counts of attempted murder.
Four days after the shooting the activist movement lead by students at Stoneman Douglas High School (Never Again), and their goal is for stricter background checks for gun buyer. Marjory Stoneman Douglas Students continue to remind America that the shooting was not an accident, but the result of human decisions.
